About
Welcome. And, thank you for visiting our holistic/wellness office. The care is designed for you to have access to more of you while accelerating your healing and recovery from injury, chronic illnesses or limited states of well-being. Dr. Karen O’Reilly has been in practice for over 24 years both in Quebec, Canada and California, USA. She offers integrative care as a doctor of chiropractic, including osteopathic, naturopathic and energetic approaches.
The intent of this website is to offer more possibilities, invite and inspire transformation. The communion between the body and being allows for gentle, effective shifts whereby small changes, like a drop of water, ripple waves through our worlds, generating change. Sometimes it is not so much a change as it is recognizing and welcoming what is already here. That is transformation as well.
Dr. O’Reilly does not do the healing; it is the body that fundamentally knows how to heal and self-right, provided we allow it and follow its innate capacity to shift. Dr. Karen communicates with the body, opens doorways, assists in connecting the body and being, and “upgrading” the nervous system as you journey to more wholeness. Dr. Karen acts as a guide or translator in a foreign country while people re-establish trust in themselves, their body and healing/regenerative capacity. Our aim is to facilitate you with the difficult and uncomfortable symptoms while unraveling the root causes and enhancing the nervous system and the body’s innate, natural, ability to heal and transform them while resourcing you with tools for the rest of your life.
The nervous system is what keeps us alive and responding to our environments. We require the nervous system for incoming and outgoing… to perceive, receive, interact and act in the world. Our nervous system allows us to smell, taste, see, hear, feel, move toward or away, perceive danger, protect, love, sense pleasure or pain, be calm, please, say no, negotiate, express ourselves, appreciate life, nature, those around us, feel connected, have compassion and understanding and step out of our boxes. If your nervous system is compromised, any of those and more of your senses can be diminished. Would you like to be calmer, more centered, more aware, more kind to you or others, develop your senses, have a more vibrant life, have your life force turned on, trust you and your body more? Rebalancing the nervous system offers you infinite possibilities. What would you like to shift, change and/or welcome?
The nervous system is impacted by many things… misalignments or subluxations, being out of synch with its own rhythm, distorted cranial mechanism, decrease presence and breath in an area which influences bodily functions, and trauma of all sorts. Trauma with its fight, flight or freeze is inherent in living as in the animal kingdom. We cannot avoid trauma (ordinary ordeals, accidents, surgeries, pain, overwhelm, losses and failures), however we can be resilient and recover from it. When we are traumatized, our thinking or cognitive brain is overridden by our survival, more primitive and sensorial system. Logic and what makes sense is not engaged until the defense reflexes or alarm systems are unwound and the trauma renegotiated within. The key is that the tool box to restore function, energy and vitality to a body and being is endless and individual specific. Unless your nervous system is able to respond, we feel victimized and on the ‘stress button.’ What does your nervous system desire for you to be well? Are you willing to have your nervous system, the power that made you and which keeps you healthy, turned ON?
No matter what you choose, know that there are great, caring doctors available wherever you live. If you have not found that person, keep asking… what would it take for you to be resourced with the ones that can facilitate the change or opening you require? What do you and your body know that you are pretending not to know? What would it take for you and your body to work together? Be best friends? What resistance and judgment could you give up that would allow you to be more connected to you? What decisions have you made that determined how you, your body and your life are and will be? Would you be willing to let go of that? What gift is your body offering that you are refusing? If you could ask a question to open your world… what would you ask?
Cheers to the journey of self-discovery that the body is offering you. What gratitude could you have for you and your body that would allow more joy, vitality and kindness into your life?
Until the joy of meeting you in the physical…
Dr. Karen O’Reilly, D.C.
